Frederick Paul and Florence Harvey met when they were 16 and 13, respectively. It all started at their two-room schoolhouse back in 1951. The two met and fell for each other hard and fast.

It came as a surprise to the people in their tiny town of Wandsworth, Newfoundland, as the two lovebirds were so young.

He said, "I would flick the porch light on and say goodnight to her, and then she would flick the light in her bedroom about 2,000 feet away."

His budget was very low, and Fredrick soon found himself without any funds to make it back home to Florence.

The thing Fredrick didn't take into consideration was how much he'd enjoy living in the city.
