Hundreds Welcomed A Third Grader Back To School After Cancer Battle
Massachusetts eight-year-old Bridget Kelley headed back to school this after battling cancer for fifteen months and undergoing a stem cell transplant. As she was walking to school she saw hundreds of classmates, teachers, friends, neighbors, police officers and other members of the community gathered around with signs and banners to cheer her on and welcome her back to school. Everyone stood out in 4 degree weather to welcome back their beloved classmate. “It was almost overwhelming,” Bridget’s mother, Megan Kelley, told the TODAY show. “She felt so special and so welcomed after such a long and hard road.”
