Woman Knits Sweaters For Syrians
A 92-year-old woman named Doris from Swindon, England knit more than 400 sweaters for Syrian refugee children. After hearing that the weather was unbearably cold in refugee camps housing Syrian families who had fled their home country, Doris decided to partner with the London-based charity Hand in Hand for Syria. Hand in Hand says in its mission statement: “We believe in delivering emergency relief in a sustainable way, such as by employing local staff so that they can support their own families, buying supplies in Syria to help the country’s economy, and providing training to local Syrian doctors equipping them to deal with the terrible injuries of war.”
