A high SAT score matched with good grades and some extra-curricular activities can help you land in a top-rated school, perhaps even one of the ivy leagues.
While SAT and ACT scoring are definitely an avenue towards success — you don’t need to rely on those scores to dictate your future.
Scottish author and teacher Abi Elphinstone recently took a picture of herself holding up a sign, and wrote about her experience with the SATs.
Here’s what her sign said:

I FAILED
Kids, you don’t need to know what a modal verb or a subordinating conjunctive is to get where you want to go in life, you need ideas and passion – so go on adventures, dream BIG, and don’t worry about your SATs scores.

In her post she adds:
“I used to be an English teacher & I visit schools every week now. I talk to the kids about resilience, determination and grit, not just in regards to exams but in regards to life, too.”
Her writing was rejected 96 times before she landed a book deal, so she knows something about failing before finding her path in life.
