Lamont Odum set out with a simple goal on Valentine’s day — he wanted to make a stranger smile and feel loved. The young man was given his opportunity when he pulled up to the drive thru window at Starbucks.
Odum pulled up to the window and asked the young woman’s name. She shyly answered and Odum pressed her further, “do you have a valentine?” he asked. The barista revealed that she was single.
He then reached over to his passenger seat and handed the young lady one dozen roses and a box of chocolates.
She was so overwhelmed by the gesture that she could barely speak. The unnamed barista did eventually muster up enough courage to say “thank you.”
It’s a simple story that hopefully reminds us all that it doesn’t take a lot of effort to make someone feel special.
