When Mandy was still very young, she was diagnosed with stage IV neuroblastoma. The cancer is considered quite rare and “high risk” cases are estimated to be around 50%. Mandy endured a rigorous six rounds of high dose chemotherapy to combat the cancer.
She also had to undergo surgery to have a tumor resection as well as two different stem cell transplants. Mandy also had to go through antibody therapy and radiation. After being declared cancer free for almost two years, she relapsed in 2015. Since then, the six-year-old has done 22 cycles of chemotherapy. Still in treatment, Mandy is a normal little girl who still loves dance, art, and playing with her dolls.
Next: meet another child who also continues to enjoy a favorite hobby despite his diagnosis.
