Amazing Alex

Alex Volz was born a beautiful baby boy in 2005. He was born with down syndrome and a heart defect, which ultimately led to heart surgery. However, this was only the beginning of tiny Alex’s struggle. One year later, Alex’s mother mom discovered that children with down syndrome are most susceptible to getting leukemia. At only 27 months he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), the most common kind of childhood cancer with a high cure rate.
Despite his challenges thus far in life, Alex is still a normal little boy who loves Elmo and puzzles. Luckily, due to an aggressive treatment plan, Alex is now in remission.
