When Lauren was only two years old she was diagnosed with Burkitt’s lymphoma. Burkitt’s lymphoma is known to be a particularly fatal form of cancer. It is a kind of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This cancer starts in the B-cells, which are what controls immunity.

Lauren was able to receive a stem cell transplant from a cord blood donor, which allowed her to persevere and beat the illness. Nowadays, Lauren is a healthy and normal 13-year-old living her life. She is also an ambassador for Kids Beating Cancer, and like the other kids from the organization she shows that it is possible to one day live cancer-free.
