Miraculous Marcus

When Marcus was born, he was a totally healthy baby. But when he was three years old, Marcus began exhibiting some strange symptoms and he was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). The main way that this illness is tackled is through a bone marrow transplant from a healthy donor. However, some kids and adults find that locating a match can prove difficult.
Luckily for Marcus, his brother was a perfect match and he was able to receive a bone marrow transplant. In 2004, Marcus and his brother went to Duke University Medical Center to have the procedure done. It was successful, and Marcus has now been in remission for 12 years. He is a healthy, normal 15-year-old boy. He also serves as an ambassador for Kids Beating Cancer and shows others that it is possible to overcome this overwhelming illness.
