Beyond And Above Duty: Police Officer Stays With Lost Dogs In Blistering Cold

A Kansas City Police officer has gone viral after he discovered two stray dogs, and comforted them in freezing cold temperatures until rescue workers arrived to save the pets.

The police officer didn’t have a car to place the dogs inside, because he was patrolling on a motorcycle. Instead, he called for help and then sat on the side of the road with the lost dogs, petting them and keeping them calm until help could arrive.

A local driver spotted the police officer and snapped a photo of his act of kindness. She then posted the photo on Facebook where it quickly received thousands of “Likes.”

The story went viral enough to make the local news, which in turn led to national recognition for the officer who refused to be named or take any type of credit for his act of animal kindness.

If that isn’t enough to pull at your heart strings. The owners were desperately searching for their lost pets, and were soon reunited with their dogs at a local animal shelter.
