I can still remember my first trip to the aquarium when I was eight years old, where I marveled at all the fish in the enormous tanks. Aquatic animals are extremely cool and diverse, making the aquarium seem like an almost surreal place.
The Shedd Aquarium, due to concerns about social distancing, decided to shut its doors to the public on March 13, but that doesn't mean they aren't allowing some new visitors to have a look around.
The Shedd Aquarium Is Located In Chicago
The Shedd Aquarium is an enormous indoor aquarium that holds up to 5 million gallons of water and is home to more than 32,000 animals. The aquarium hosts a wide range of aquatic life, with specific exhibits on ecosystems ranging from freshwater fish to Caribbean reefs to Antarctic sea life.
When They Closed To The Public, They Still Let Some Guests Roam Around
Even though the aquarium is closed to the public, staff still needed to come in and make sure all the animals were well cared for. However, instead of keeping the penguins locked up in the Antarctic area, they allowed some of them to go for a trip to explore the aquarium.
Not Only Adorable, But Also Educational
While there are few things more adorable than watching penguins waddle through the exhibits and stare in awe at the other sea life, the aquarium also took the opportunity to share facts and information about penguins, including this adorable couple who are getting ready for nesting season. Did you know that penguins mate for life?
The Staff Are Just Trying To Keep Things As Normal As Possible For The Animals
The aquarium staff, which are dedicated to providing the best conditions and experiences for all the animals the building, make a continuous effort to provide new experiences and opportunities for exploration that mimic their species' lives in their natural habitat.
While the staff might be a little overwhelmed with their change of pace on the job, these penguins seem to be enjoying their little field trip.
