After 108 winless years, the Chicago Cubs finally claimed a World Series trophy in 2016 and it was President Obama who had the honor of welcoming them to the White House. Obama’s “adopted” hometown of Chicago was still celebrating when the President congratulated the men on their victory. During his speech, the President of the United States couldn’t help but tear up at the historic moment. The 44th POTUS was nearing the end of eight years in the toughest job in the world and yet he still seemed genuinely happy and surprised by moments like this.
