Animals can really surprise us at the least expected moments. While we don’t typically think of whales as the most social creatures in the world, this mother whale proves us wrong.
A lucky group of tourists in the Mexican lagoon recently had the chance to see not just one whale, but also her baby calf.
The tourists were in Laguna San Ignacio, a saltwater lagoon that juts into Mexico’s Baja peninsula, when they came across the incredible whales.
As first the mother gray whale emerges and then seconds later she lifts her baby (calf) out of the water.
The event occurs right next to a little boat where tourists were on a whale watching trip.
The mother not only lifts her calf for easy viewing, she also allows the tourists to pet her young child.
Everyone aboard the boat was amazed by their luck. They gently patted the baby’s nose before noticing the mother was right beneath the baby! “The mother too!” one of the tourists, Sabrina, exclaimed excitedly.
As the whales swam away, the man filming the video called out, “Muchas muchas gracias!” What an incredible experience!
