Danny and Lexi Reed took a long hard look in the mirror and realized something had to change. Lexi weighed in at 482 pounds and her husband tipped the scale at 280. The couple faced breathing problems and suffered from pre-diabetic symptoms.
Realizing their life choices needed to change, Danny and Lexi started dieting and working out every day of the week. In just one year they lost a combined 308 pounds.
Lexi posted a picture of her, and her husband before they started living a more healthy lifestyle.
Lexi tells their story in her own words.
“I was always terrified of breaking furniture when eating out, people would stare at us and it’s no real surprise as we weighed a combined 55 stone. We never ate vegetables and never tried to be healthy, everything we ate would either be fried or from a fast food restaurant.”
“We were easily eating 4,000 calories a day each, we didn’t know where to stop. Every year I would make the same New Year’s resolution and would never stick to it, but January 2016 was different and we stuck to it. When we started dating we put on a lot of weight together, we spent most nights revolving our dates around going for dinner.”
Lexi explains that on most days the couple would visit a Chinese buffet and eat 3 to 4 plates of food each. They also ordered a lot of takeout.
In her story Lexi says her massive weight gain was ruling her daily life.
I had difficulty breathing and I’m pretty sure I was pre-diabetic, people don’t understand how hard it is to be overweight.
At one point, Lexi was turned away from a rollercoaster at a theme park because she simply couldn’t fit inside the rollercoaster.
“Once we put our mind to it, the weight quickly started to fall off. I have since lost nearly 238lbs and Danny has lost 72lbs. Danny and I are still working hard every day, our journey isn’t over yet, but never in a million years did we think we could get where we are today, it’s incredible.”
“Danny was really supportive and we started to make everything from scratch at home.
The couple started finding alternatives for foods that they loved to eat on a daily basis. If they wanted pizza, it was a healthier option, if they wanted a snack, they reached for something that wouldn’t pack on the pounds.
The couple admits that their weight loss journey is far from over, but they take everyone one day at a time and stay committed to making sure they both stick to their guns.
