Did you know there is actually a name for the guys who spread their legs wide on the subway? It’s called Manspreading and it can lead to discomfort for other passengers on the train.
The team at The Gothamist recently decided to interview male passengers on the NYC subway. The goal? To determine why they manspread.
As it turns out, many of the worst offenders claim they didn’t even realize they were causing discomfort to the people around them. During the video the reporter shows one of the men that his neighbor is squeezed into their seat because of his manspreading.
How serious is manspreading? The NYC MTA is planning a campaign to educate guys about maintaining comfort for other people.
