“I’ll be fine. I’ll do it. Well. here… goes… something… I guess.” 10-year-old Zia tells herself at the top of a ski jump.
Using a GoPro we are put into Zia’s point of view as we look down at what can be described as death-defying jump ahead of her.
In the background, we can hear her friends and instructor give encouraging words and last minute instructions just before we hear Zia give herself some last second motivational words.
“Here…I…go…”
Zia zips down the ski hill. We hear her let out a few yells full of adrenaline as she begins to pick up steam and approach the end of the jump.
When Zia finally does reach the jump off point she is launched into the air for a moment before performing a perfect landing. Safe and sound.
We then see and hear Zia cheering her little 10-year-old heart out as she realizes she not only made the jump, but also conquered her fear.
The video is more about the emotions and facing your fears and overcoming them, than the jump itself.
Let’s not forget, she is only in 4th grade and was able to conquer a pretty big fear.
We can all learn a little something from 10-year-old Zia.
