Eight-year-old Tallulah loved the days when the delivery driver would stop by her house.
It wasn't until some time had passed that Tallulah noticed something about the driver and decided to do something special for him, something captured on film.
2020: The Year Of Homeschooling
The year 2020 saw many children being homeschooled by their parents.
While it wasn't easy, eight-year-old Tallulah made sure to make the most of her time during her at-home education.
She Learned A New Skill
During her time at home, Tallulah decided she wanted to learn a few new skills.
One of those skills she actually put to the test, thanks to a delivery driver she became friends with.
He Comes Around Once Or Twice A Week
According to Tallulah's mom, Amy Mclellan, she and her daughter see the parcel delivery man about one or two times a week.
Apparently, it was the best time of the week for her young daughter!
It All Started With A Thank You Note
At the start of 2020, Tallulah drew the delivery driver a little thank you sign, complete with a beautifully colored rainbow.
According to Amy, he proudly displayed the artwork in his truck window.
Their Friendship Began To Bloom
During an interview with Global News, Amy said, "Start of lockdown, Tallulah drew him a #thankyou rainbow. He still has it proudly on show in his van."
"They have built up quite a friendship over these last few weeks."
Tallulah Wanted To Do Something Special
The driver worked for Hermes Parcel courier service worker and loved seeing young Tallulah outside every time he drove down the street.
It made his day! Little did he know that the little girl had something else up her sleeve.
First: They Needed To Get His Name
Since the delivery driver was making regular rounds to their home in Greater Manchester, Amy and her daughter figured they should get his name.
Tallulah was infatuated with him, after all!
The Driver's Name: Tim Joseph
They learned the delivery driver's name was Tim Joseph, and since Tallulah was home all of the time, the man and little girl developed quite an adorable bond.
That bond was only about to get bigger!
Now It Was Time To Figure out What To Do
With their friendship blooming, Tallulah wanted to do something special for Tim. It was just a matter of what she should do.
She had already drawn him a big thank you card after all.
Tim Was Deaf
That's when inspiration struck! Amy and Tallulah knew something about Tim, something their neighbors might not even know about the delivery man.
Tim was actually deaf, he was unable to hear.
Tallulah Wanted To Learn Sign Language
That's when Tallulah and her mom got to work on their studies.
Tallulah wanted to learn sign language so she could say something to Tim, something he would understand without having to read her lips.
It Was Time To Learn A Phrase!
While Tallulah wasn't ready to have a long conversation with Tim using sign language, she wanted to say a little something to brighten up her friend's day.
Now, it was just a matter of learning a phrase!
It Was Time!
After Tallulah had her phrase down, she couldn't wait to see Tim. She was so excited to show off what she had learned and sign to him!
What happened next, Amy wasn't even prepared for.
"Have A Good Day!"
The day Tim drove to their house to drop off a package, Tallulah ran up to him, looked him in the eyes, and signed, "Have a good day!"
To say Tim was surprised would have been an understatement!
"...One Day She Surprised Me..."
During an interview, Tim said that Tallulah's signing absolutely made his day.
He said, "Tallulah realized I was deaf, and then one day she surprised me when she signed to me, 'Have a good day.'"
Tim Taught The Little Girl Something New
After giving Tallulah a big smile and thumbs up, Tim then taught her something new. He taught her how to sign "Good morning, have a good day."
After a few tries, Tallulah had it down perfectly!
Tim Was Very Impressed
Tim was overjoyed that the little girl took the time to learn sign language in school.
He was even more impressed that she felt comfortable enough to show him what she learned!
Amy Made Sure To Get The Moment On Video
While her daughter was signing with Tim, Amy was smart enough to capture the moment.
She took a video of the interaction and wasted no time posting it on social media.
The Video Went Viral
To her surprise, it did not take long for the video to take off and go viral!
People were amazed at the little girl and what she did to bring a smile to Time's face.
Over 25 Million Views
Amy decided to post the video on her Twitter page, and not long after, it garnered over 25 million views and 8,000 retweets!
Tim was shocked by the number of views.
Time Was Shocked
Tim was emotional after reading all of the positive comments, saying in an interview he hopes it will teach others the importance of learning sign language.
Something so simple as a "have a good day" really made a difference.
"I Hope ore People Learn To Sign..."
During an interview, Tim said, "I hope more people learn to sign and we bring more people together."
It was a statement showcasing exactly how he felt when he saw Tallulah signing to him that one morning.
Neighbors Began Commenting On The Video
So many people praised Tallulah for her selfless act. Even some of the family's neighbors responded to Amy's Twitter video.
In fact, Tallulah learned that she wasn't the only one using sign language!
"He Is The Best Delivery Driver..."
On the video post, neighbor Carrie Hopwood commented, "You are a very special and beautiful little girl Tallulah."
"He is the best delivery driver we have around here! He's always so pleased/happy when we sign hello and thank you to him."
"He's So Lovely..."
Another neighbor commented, "He's so lovely, isn’t he."
It goes to show that a little bit of kindness and a bright smile can really make all of the difference with people.
Other Neighbors Were Signing To Tim, Too
The comments didn't stop there, either!
Another person wrote, "He comes to us too, and Alfie also uses sign with him. His face lights up when we make the effort to sign to him. Such a lovely man."
People Had Nothing But Nice Things To Say About Time
It seems as though the people in the neighborhood have nothing but nice things to say about Tim.
He is a nice mad who is always happy to see people signing and communicating with him.
The Company Chimed In...
What really amazing Amy, though, weren't the nice comments coming from all of her neighbors.
It was the fact that Tim's company, Hermes Parcels, reached out and commented on the post, too!
They Want To Personally Praise Tim!
In the comment section, they wrote, "This is lovely to see. We're glad that the driver is offering such lovely service and has become friends with Tallulah :)."
"Please, could you pop us a DM with a recent tracking number and contact details so we can get him the praise he deserves?"
Acts Of Kindness Go A Long Way
While the company never said what they would do for Tim, the community figured it would be something deserving of such an incredible man whose bright personality made a little girl go the extra step to use sign language to communicate with him!
It shows that a little act of kindness can go such a long way.
