Since it was founded in 1978, Noah’s Ark Animal Rehabilitation Center has rescued thousands of animals in Locust Grove, Georgia. The center currently houses over 1,500 animals including tigers and bears that were rescued from unlicensed owners, donated by circuses and zoos, or — in the rare case of a particular zebra — found wandering on the side of the road.
The center has grown since its beginnings as a small farm an transformed into a 122-acre property. In 1992, they expanded further to include the Noah’s Ark Children Care Home. That’s right – they don’t just foster animals. They foster people, too.
Noah’s Ark accepts visitors and their animal habitats are open for three hours a day, so as to not overwhelm their residents, who happen to include a lion, bear, and tiger that are BFFs and referred to affectionately as “BLT.”
