Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida has been around since 1992 and is one of the largest accredited sanctuaries in the world. It boasts over 80 big cats, including lions, tigers, cougars, and bobcats. These animals have mostly been orphaned, abandoned, and abused. In some cases they were saved from the circus, and in other instances they were saved from becoming fur coats.
Though the heart of the sanctuary is protecting endangered big cats, it also hopes to educate the public on these majestic creatures and the injustices they face. Patrons can take regular tours and visit with the animals or explore during regular safari days. The facility even does weddings!
