Redditor SquishyMcPhee was waiting for an oil change at their local car dealership when they stumbled upon an amazing styrofoam cup.
Unlike a regular coffee cup, this creation features some amazing artwork. The artist etched into the cup and used a pen to color in the outline.
At first the Reddit user only received this little bit of information from a cashier at the dealership:
“She said that he didn’t even seem that intent on it, just had his feet up most of the time. He’d doodle, pitch it down and go get a drink, doodle some more, walk around the showroom for a while…”
Eventually through the power of social media, he was able to discover the name of the artist, William Hersey.
It turns out that Hersey is no stranger to styrofoam cup art, over the last 5 1/2 years he has transformed more than 1000 cups into works of art.
As you can see below, he doodled on both the outside and inside of each cup.
It turns out that William Hersey has turned his hobby into a good cause. He now encourages others to turn styrofoam cups into artwork and then pass them along to others as a keepsake.
