While there is an assortment of kids content on Netflix, a new month means new titles that are sure to keep little ones busy while also fueling some nostalgia. In September 2020, get ready to see some family-friendly movies added to the streaming platform's catalog.
Whether its a film that already happens to be on the platform, such as The Addams Family, or something that is about to be added, like Puss in Boots, one of these movies is sure to be part of your next family night.
How To Train Your Dragon 2
Hiccup and Toothless are back in the sequel How to Train Your Dragon 2. Five years have passed since the Vikings and dragons of Berk came to an unlikely alliance. Now, the dynamic duo is spending their time charting unmapped locations and making new inventions.
Of course, one of their adventures brings them to a cave and the discovery of a bunch of wild dragons, Hiccup's long-lost mother, and a power-hungry guy named Drago who wants to take over everything.
Charlotte's Web
Based on the E.B. White book of the same name, Charlotte's Web tells the story of friendship, love, and sacrifice. After learning that the barns new, young pig, Wilbur's days are numbers, the spider Charlotte hatches a plan to save him.
If your kids aren't familiar with this story, we recommend putting it on their "must-watch list." The story of selflessness and friendship is one that every child should watch at least once in their life.
Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
Few things are better than a movie night with the family, especially if that movie is Dr. Seuss' The Lorax. As a story inside of a story, The Lorax starts with Twelve-year-old Ted wanting to do nothing more than impress Audrey, the young girl he likes.
So, along with picking some pretty flowers, he begins to tell her the story of the Lorax, the old guardian of the forest. Honestly, that's one way to get a girl's attention!
Puss In Boots
Get ready for the untold story of Puss in Boots. Before meeting Shrek and Donkey, Puss was nothing but a small-town hero who gets accused of a bank robbery. Getting run out of town, Puss needs means to survive.
Insert his friend Humpty Dumpty and the love interest Kitty Softpaws. Together, the three of them pull off one more heist, but at what cost? Especially when one of these three thieves isn't who they say they are.
The Muppets
Starring Amy Adams And Jason Segel, The Muppets tells the story of the unlikely alliance that bands together to save Muppet Studios. While on a trip to Los Angeles, Gary, his brother, and his girlfriend Mary visit the studio, only to learn that Tex Richman is planning on demolishing the building to drill for oil.
So, they decide to bring the gang back together. With the help of Kermit, Miss Piggy, Beaker, and more, they host a telethon to raise the $10 million they need to save the studio.
Muppets Most Wanted
After their new manager, Dominic Badguy, has the Muppets go on a world tour, everything goes downhill. Kermit the Frog winds up in a Siberian prison after his look-a-like Constantine escapes, leaving the rest of the gang to fend for themselves
And while Kermit is stuck in prison, Constantine and Dominic have free reign of the country. Now, nothing can stop them from carrying out their plan to steal the crown jewels of London.
The Willoughbys
One of the Netflix original movies that have a lot of people talking is The Willoughbys. After being abandoned by their neglectful parents, four siblings band together to learn the true meaning of family.
Of course, banding together means going on an epic adventure with their new nanny. And if that doesn't interest you, then this might: a stray cat narrates the entire movie! That alone should be enough to pique your interest.
The Smurfs
If you need a fun-filled movie for a family night, look no further than The Smurfs. Coming to Netflix in September, this movie follows some magical forest dwellers as they are chased out of their home by an evil wizard, drop through a portal, and wind up in Manhattan.
Well, the Smurfs' adventure wouldn't be complete with a human counterpart, so insert Neil Patrick Harris, the man who ends up helping the Smurfs. But will they be able to work together?
Despicable Me
Netflix is taking people back to when the minions, Gru, and three little orphan girls got their start, Despicable Me. Surrounded by a league of tiny yellow minions and an arsenal of high-tech weapons, supervillain Gru hatches a plan to steal the moon.
And while he has everything calculated down to the final decimal, Gru never expected for things to go so wrong. Watch as Gru takes on the greatest challenge of his life so far, taking care of three orphan girls.
The Addams Family
Everyone's favorite morbid aristocratic family, the Addams, are back on Netflix in The Addams Family. The dark comedy follows the family as the welcome Gomez's long-lost brother Fester back into the fold.
But not everything is as it seems, and Morticia soon realizes that Fester isn't who he says he is. Well, he is, but he doesn't remember. If that sounds a bit strange, keep in mind that nothing in this family is what one would consider "normal." You're just going to have to watch the movie to see for yourself.
Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events
For some of the older kids in the crowd, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events is the perfect movie choice for a lazy day. After their parents pass in a house fire, the three Baudelaire siblings are sent to live with their estranged relative, Count Olaf.
Of course, he isn't exactly what one would call "loving," and the children quickly find themselves being part of a series of very strange and unfortunate events.
Hugo
If your next family movie night is in need of a bit of adventure and mystery, look no further than Hugo. Set in 1930s Paris, Hugo lives in the walls of a train station, maintaining the clocks there.
And while that might be his day-job, Hugo is more concerned about protecting his late father's notebook where he speaks of a mysterious automaton. Now, it's up to Hugo to learn as much as he can about the creation, setting him off on a whirlwind adventure.
The Smurfs 2
The Smurfs 2 is coming to Netflix in September. Get ready to journey back to the land of the Smurfs with Smurfette, Papa, and Clumsy, as they try to save their world from the evil wizard Gargamel.
Only, this time, Gargamel has kidnapped Smurfette, and their entire way of life is at risk from the Naughties! Traveling back to New York to get the help of their human friend Patrick, the Smurfs do everything they can to help Smurfette.
Johnny English
The fact that the comedic genius of Rowan Atkinson is seen throughout Johnny English should be a reason in itself to watch the film. But, if it's not, let us give you a bit of a run down. The movie follows Johnny English, a below-average spy and undercover agent who is sent to stop jewel thief Pascal Sauvage.
Of course, nothing goes as planned, and English finds himself in one mishap after another. At least there's never a dull moment!
All Dogs Go To Heaven
If you plan on watching All Dogs go to Heaven, be sure to have a box of tissues nearby. The movie follows the story of Charlie Barkin, a German Shepard who opts to go back to Earth to help his living friend Itchy Itchiford and a young orphan girl.
Throughout the movie, the two dogs learn important lessons in love, kindness, and friendship. It's the perfect movie for young kids and is sure to fuel some nostalgia for the adults.
Over The Moon
Get ready to join Fei Fei as she goes on an adventure of a lifetime with her trusty rabbit in Over the Moon. After listening to the folklore surrounding the Moon Goddess Chang'e, Fei Fei decides to take it upon herself and build a space rocket to visit her.
The American-Chinese animated movie is set to launch on Netflix this fall. You and your little ones aren't going to want to miss one second of Fei Fei's wild moon adventure!
Dennis The Menace
Young Dennis Mitchell is hyper, mischievous, and pushes every single button his neighbor George Wilson has. But, the two need to learn how to get along when Dennis's parents go out of town and there is no one but George and his wife to watch the young boy.

The Neverending Story

Arctic Dogs
Arctic Dogs not only brings the viewer on a crazy adventure, but it also teaches about the dangers of climate change! Swifty the Fox loves his home in the arctic, so when he hears the evil plot being constructed by Otto Von Walrus, he knows he has to do something.
See, Walrus' plan is to melt all of the ice in the arctic, and that won't do for all of the animals that live there. So, it's up to Swifty and his friends to save the day.
