Imogen the koala got a special surprise recently when she got to be the ringbearer for a man’s proposal to his girlfriend. The tiny koala first gained her fame when she was born. A video of her discovering her mother went viral on social media.
Since then, Imogen has endeared herself to everyone with other videos, including one of her climbing up a photographer’s leg for a hug. Among her admirers are Gabe and Rowan, a couple from California.
They traveled to the Symbio Wildlife Park in Australia to see the koala celebrate her first birthday. But, unknown to Rowan, they were there for an entirely different reason as well.
Wanting to make their engagement special, Gabe contacted the park’s and asked if he could get Imogen’s help to propose to Rowan. Thankfully, they agreed and when the koala came out to greet Rowan, she was carrying something very special — a diamond engagement ring.
Gabe got down on one knee and Rowan agreed to marry him, much to the delight of her new fiance, as well as park staff and visitors for the day.
Following the proposal, Rowan and her new fiance got to take their long-awaited photos with Imogen the koala. Symbio Wildlife Park added its own congratulations to the couple, along with a video they posted to YouTube. The park wrote, “Congratulations to Gabe Baker and his new fiance, Rowan Henderson who came all the way out to Australia from California, and had Imogen be the ring bearer for the ultimate marriage proposal.”
