During a time of global crisis, a heartwarming moment between a mother cat, her kitten, and a team of staff at a hospital in Istanbul gave everyone in the hospital, and on Twitter, something to smile about.
An Unexpected Sight
Istanbul is a city familiar with stray cats. The city has thousands of cats that roam the streets, living happily alongside the tourists and locals. So it's not strange to come across a stray cat or two in your daily life.
It’s less common, however, to come across a stray cat walking through the doors of your hospital.
A Mother In Need
A mama cat recently made her way to the emergency room of an Istanbul hospital. The mama carried her sick kitten through the doors in search of help, which was documented by Merve Özcan on Twitter. The mother was suspected to have given birth near the hospital and wandering in looking for help.
Every Patient Matters
The medics at the hospital jumped into action quickly, treating the cat and her kitten just as they would any other patient. While the kitten was being checked out by the hospital staff, the mother stayed close by. The hospital staff also gave mama some milk and food to make her more comfortable while she waited.
False Alarm
Both mom and baby were checked out during their visit to the hospital. The staff at the hospital didn't find any issues to be concerned about. To be on the safe side, the mother-child duo was referred to a local veterinarian for a more thorough check-up from doctors who were used to working on kittens rather than humans.
Everyone Is Happy And Healthy In The End
In Turkey, the stray animals are treated as well by the locals as their own pets, and the story quickly went viral on social media. The staff of the Istanbul hospital was praised for jumping into action to take care of their four-legged patients, and everyone is happy that both the mother and baby are doing well.
