Mailboxes are one part of the home that doesn't always receive much attention. Some homeowners are changing that by making their mailboxes the standout on the street. From a dragon mailbox to one made from an old microwave, these mailboxes had passersby scratching their heads.
The Dragon Mailbox
These homeowners pulled out all the stops to create an ornate dragon sculpture around their mailbox! The adorable creature is wearing an unsure expression on its face as it cradles the mailbox.
It's as though the dragon was trying to steal the mailbox like it were a prized possession of some sort. We would guess that the homeowner is an artist who pulled this idea out of their creative mind to set their mailbox apart from all the rest.
The VW Mailbox
There's no doubt that this homeowner is proud of their VW minivan. Not only do they have it proudly parked in the driveway, but they also modeled their mailbox after the vehicle.
The car has a unique green color that is mimicked in the mailbox. There must be a painter in the family because they did an excellent job of painting the mailbox so it looks just like the car. In case the car isn't present, at least passersby will see it on the mailbox!
The Police Mailbox
This mailbox is a miniature version of a police box, which were prevalent in the United Kingdom up to the 1920s. Police boxes were essentially kiosks used by the authorities to contact their station or perform other tasks.
The public could also use a police box to contact the station in the event of an emergency. Someone must be a big fan to bring this old resource back in the form of a mailbox!
The Snowman Mailbox
This homeowner turned a boring mailbox into an eyecatching yard ornament by building a snowman around it! The body of the snowman hides the stand while its head covers the mailbox.
The best part is that the front of the mailbox looks like the snowman's mouth. It's like he's opening wide to accept mail into his mouth! Even the tap at the top of the mailbox looks like the snowman's nose. They completed the snowman with button eyes, a hat, and a scarf.
Keeping The Bills At Bay
This homeowner's mailbox looks relatively normal until you realize there's actually two mailboxes. The second mailbox is about three times as tall as the normal one. The homeowner got it up high by placing it atop a tall pole.
Why would someone want two mailboxes, let alone one that tall you might ask? The clever homeowner wrote "Bills" on the side of the tall mailbox. The idea is that if they can't reach the bills, there's no need to pay them!
The Game Boy Mailbox
This mailbox is modeled after a Game Boy, the handheld game console that came out at the very end of the '80s and were huge in the '90s.
The mailbox certainly gives this home a vintage feel and is likely appreciated by avid gamers and children of the '90s. As cool as the idea is, we have to wonder about functionality. We're not sure how the homeowner gets into the mailbox, but at least they won't have to worry about stolen mail!
The Scuba Diver Mailbox
This homeowner found a creative way to turn their mailbox into a scuba diver. They cut pieces of wood in the shape of arms and legs and fixed it to the box so that it looks like the mailbox is the body.
They added another piece to the front that looks like scuba goggles and fixed a litter bottle to the top to mimic an oxygen tank. The designer painted the whole thing to make it look like a scuba diving mailbox!
The Microwave Mailbox
This mailbox isn't even a mailbox! The homeowner literally took an old microwave and set it atop a wooden stand where a mailbox should be. The only explanation we can think of is that someone destroyed the original mailbox.
Instead of paying for a new one, this homeowner must have figured that their microwave would be of better use outside! At least there's a door on the mailbox to securely hold the mail until the homeowner gets to it.
The Castle Mailbox
This mailbox looks more like something a child would play with. It has a small castle built around it so that the door of the mailbox looks like the large door of the castle.
The castle is complete with towers and little flags on top! We would guess that the homeowner is a big fan of shows like Game of Thrones. The gray color makes it blend in with the rest of the street, but the design is certainly a standout.
The Television Camera Mailbox
This homeowner managed to turn a vintage television camera into a mailbox! The camera even has "color television" written on the side, which was probably a novel feature at the time it was in use.
The top of the camera has the number 3 on it, so we would guess it was used on a set with multiple cameras for different angles. The homeowner must be in the industry or a huge tv buff to have this kind of mailbox.
The Cookie Monster Mailbox
One of the most beloved Sesame Street characters is the Cookie Monster, and this homeowner is clearly a big fan. They turned their mailbox into a Cookie Monster replica!
The best part is that the mail goes into the character's mouth! It's like each piece of mail is a cookie that the mailperson is feeding to this Cookie Monster. Hopefully, that makes the bills a little sweeter when they arrive in the mail.
A Fisherman's Mailbox
There must be a fisherman behind this mailbox because who else would want to collect their mail in the mouth of a fish? The design is actually perfectly shaped for mail since the fish has a long, lean body.
At the same time, it isn't large enough to collect that much mail, so they must check it often. Then again, it must be hard to forget the mail with a design that eyecatching, especially if you're a fish fan.
A Golfer's Mailbox
This homeowner must either be an avid golfer or a huge fan of the sport because their mailbox is a giant golf ball. Even the mailbox stand is a giant tee!
The circular design may not be the most ideal for rectangular-shaped mail, but at least it's large enough to fit the mail inside! If anything, the sphere may actually be more ideal when it comes to small packages that need the extra height.
The Snoopy Mailbox
Snoopy has become known as one of the most famous cartoon characters of all time. We'd venture to guess that this homeowner would agree based on their mailbox.
It shows Snoopy in his popular pose laying on his back on top of a red house. The mailbox is located in the red house, which is perfectly shaped to cover up the mailbox. We have to wonder how many people drive by this house and shout out "Snoopy!"
The Cow Mailbox
This homeowner must be a major fan of farm life decor because they turned their mailbox into a cow! as hilarious as that concept is, it's even more humorous given the position of the cow.
Rather than having the mail coming out of the cow's mouth, they pointed the cow in the opposite direction so the mailbox door is at the cow's rear! There's even a rope that could be the cow's tail or the handle to the mailbox!
The Octopus Mailbox
This mailbox looks like it came out of the ocean thanks to its octopus design. The mailbox isn't made to look like it's a part of the octopus, but rather looks like it's being held by it.
The octopus's long tentacles are curved around the mailbox and down to the ground to act like the mailbox stand. There's also a camera on top of the octopus's head for some unknown reason. The vibrant blue color combined with the design makes this mailbox impossible to miss.
The Taz Mailbox
The Tasmanian Devil, aka Taz, is one of the most recognizable of the Looney Tunes characters. This homeowner must have grown up watching the show because they turned their mailbox into a Taz figure.
It looks like they combine the character with a birdhouse to make the design work for a mailbox. The house wraps around the mailbox, while Taz's face acts as the door. It seems like the mail is out in the open, but who would want to reach their hand in that mouth?
The Boat Engine Mailbox
This homeowner must be a huge boating buff to turn a boat engine into a mailbox! We would even venture to guess that they are a boat mechanic considering how niche the design is.
What we're confused about is where the mailperson is supposed to put the mail! It's one thing for the homeowner to come up with a clever way to collect the mail, but what about the poor mailperson? They have to know how it works, too!
The Deep Sea Diver Mailbox
This mailbox is located out of a museum store, so they went big to represent how cool their shop is. What better way to advertise your store than to have the mailbox represent the fascinating items inside?
That's why this mailbox features a statue of a deep-sea diver. The diver is holding the mailbox with one arm, making it look like he found the box at the bottom of the sea. We wonder how many people driving by pulled over to check out the store thanks to this mailbox.
Well This Is Awkward
This residence is clearly home to some artists, because we can't figure out what they were thinking when they came up with this mailbox design. These red lips will be staring at you from down the road.
It doesn't even matter what the house looks like (oh how we wish we could see it though) because this mailbox is a total eyesore. We feel terrible for the neighbors across the street who have to look at it everyday.
This Mailbox Is Floating On A Chain!
This mailbox looks like something straight out of a Halloween movie. It appears to be floating in the air! The mailbox is attached to a chain as opposed to a stand.
The chain is somehow sturdy enough to support the weight of the mailbox and hold it upright. We're not a physics genius, but it seems like magic was involved in the making of this mailbox. The neighbors must investigate it every time they walk by.
