One Harry Potter fan redecorated the cupboard under her stairs to pay homage to the popular children’s book series-turned-movie franchise. Courtney McCarraher Bonnet
Courtney McCarraher Bonnet posted photos of the remodel to the open Facebook group Room of Requirement, run by BuzzFeed.
The children’s librarian told BuzzFeed that she noticed the cupboard when she went to an open house before purchasing the home. At the time, she explained that she liked the cupboard but “wasn’t crazy about the rest of the house.”
However, her husband loved the house. She added that, “Our realtor brought us back again because my husband loved the house. He convinced me but only after agreeing I could turn the space into a Harry Potter–themed room.”
The family purchased the home in June and moved in. Bonnet then set to work redecorating the cupboard under the stairs to pay tribute to Harry Potter.
Being a librarian, Bonnet was able to salvage damaged Harry Potter books from the library. She usee their pages as wallpaper for the mini reading room.
The librarian also hung a poster of one Harry Potter movie and the wizard’s “Undesirable No. 1” wanted poster. The project to redecorate the cupboard under the stairs took just over a week and Bonnet added that she isn’t done quite yet.
Thankfully, Bonnet’s two boys love the room she created. She told BuzzFeed that they play hide-and-seek in it often and their friends ask to see it when they come over. She added, “I look forward to reading the Harry Potter series to my boys in the cupboard.”
