A little smile can go a long way. It takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile, and a toothy grin is the best way to make a great first impression.

Well, it turns out that a smile isn't just for our fellow humans. After a bit of research, it turns out that goats are also drawn to people who smile, which naturally puts a smile on our face!

According to a study in the journal Royal Society Open Science, it turns out that goats and other animals that have been domesticated for production are drawn to human interactions that show some kind of level of companionship, much like we do with dogs.

According to the study, after presenting a group of goats a picture of a smiling and frowning face, the goats all naturally approached the smiling face. To really hammer the point home, there wasn't a single goat that approached the frowning face!

Ultimately, the results confirm that animals can actually perceive human facial cues and that it can spread further than just dogs and cats. So the next time you run into a goat, a cow, or any kind of animal, try giving them a nice smile... unless you don't want them to come near you.
