Home is where you get to express yourself through unique interior design. For one Seattle mother, her dream house consisted of Disney-themed rooms. Over the years, she's perfected her home so that it displays countless collectible Disney items that suit each individual space. Some of our favorites are the Little Mermaid children's bathroom, the Aladdin master en suite, an Enchanted Tiki Room guest space, and a Rapunzel seating area. We'll even take a look at how this talented designer transforms her Disney home for the holidays!
Please Wipe Your Paws!
From the moment you approach this home, it's evident that the people inside are major Disney fans. You're greeted by a charming shrub cut into the shape of Mickey Mouse's head.
Just above is a One Hundred and One Dalmations-inspired welcome sign that asks that you "Please wipe your paws!" The cherry-on-top is the front door knocker, which features the distinguishable Disney princess castle and Tinkerbell casting her magic. The design is delightfully unique without being overly flashy.
"Under The Sea" Living Room
Inside, the living room pops with a vibrant turquoise couch and soft-blue walls. A sandy-brown tile fireplace drives home the beach-theme, which is given a Disney twist with Ariel and Lilo & Stitch decorations.
A beach painting hangs over the fireplace mantle, adding maturity to the room so that it feels like a space for the whole family, not just the kids. The cedar cabinets below the television have glass doors to showcase more Disney knickknacks.
"Be Our Guest" Dining Room
This dining room looks like it came straight out of the film Beauty and the Beast. The regal table and chairs suit the formal space and have an old-timey feel that matches the Disney decorations to a tee.
Matching Mickey and Minnie shrubs flank a china cabinet, which holds fragile Disney collectible items. To the left are some of the most beloved characters from Beauty and the Beast, while the characteristic red rose in a glass case sits to the right.
A Mickey Mouse Kitchen
Being that Mickey Mouse is the mascot of the Walt Disney Company, it makes perfect sense that the cartoon character would have his own room in this house. Better yet, the designated space is the heart of the home: the kitchen.
The top of the cabinets features Mickey Mouse heads in various colors. Down below is a mat, towels, mugs, and figurines all of which feature the famous character and his female counterpart, Minnie Mouse.
"Let Down Your Hair" Seating Area
While some may think of The Lakers when they see purple and gold, a diehard Disney fan knows that those colors are Rapunzel's hallmark. That's why this seating area has a clear color-scheme surrounding the Rapunzel painting, pillow, and knickknacks.
A richly detailed golden cabinet pops in the corner of the room and holds more fragile Disney collectibles. The detailing is echoed in a floating shelf and a mirror on either side of the painting, and above is a theme-driven banner.
"You Can Fly" Staircase
To the left of the Rapunzel room are hanging pictures that feature more Disney princesses and sayings. The traditional oval silhouette images add to the old-timey feel that is reminiscent of so many Disney classics.
It's only natural that the staircase beyond features Peter Pan, Wendy, and others flying up to the second floor. They soar over Captain Hook's ship, portrayed as a beautiful golden figurine hanging on the wall. As with the rest of the rooms, the space strikes a balance between design and functionality.
A Little Mermaid Bathroom
Surrounded by turquoise walls and filled with decorations, this Little Mermaid bathroom is one of the areas that most pops in the home. The Ariel and Flounder shower curtain ensures that there's no mistaking this room for being merely beach-themed.
Further driving the theme across is an area wall feature that peaks out above the shower curtain. Jellyfish, seahorses, and other sea creatures adorn the walls and a floating bookshelf above the toilet holds more figurines.
"A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" Master Bedroom
This Cinderella master bedroom goes to show that a Disney-themed home can accommodate adults. The intricately detailed furniture and soft pink and blue color-scheme serve as indicators of the theme.
Behind the nightstand are bubble-like wall decorations, some of which feature images. The feature calls to a scene from the movie wherein Cinderella is scrubbing the floors and singing. Who wouldn't want to go to bed with the reminder that "a dream is a wish your heart makes"?
"A Whole New World" Master En Suite
The master bathroom should be a sanctuary, especially for parents. This Aladdin-themed en suite certainly achieves just that. The master tub is not only surrounded by candles but is also topped with colorful lanterns that hang from the ceiling.
A three-piece painting of Aladdin and Jasmine riding on the magic carpet makes this space feel like it's in "a whole new world." Twinkling lights shine behind the teal and purple curtains, an effect that makes the area feel magical.
The Enchanted Tiki (Guest) Room
Rather than spending a fortune to stay in a themed Disney resort room, lucky guests can get the full experience for free when they stay at this family's gorgeous home. The spare room features white and tan island-inspired furniture adorned with theme-specific decorations.
A tiki sculpture and hanging shells add a charming touch to the nightstand, while a vibrant plant adds color to the white dresser. Fake parrots on perches hang from the ceiling, and even the fan overhead has leaf-shaped blades.
"Down The Rabbit Hole" Guest Bathroom
Alice In Wonderland fans would be delighted to use this guest bathroom, which has garden-like features surrounding figurines from the Disney classic. An imitation vine with vibrant leaves and flowers encircles one of two mirrors, the second of which features a detailed, bronze frame.
Wall features showcase flowers and butterflies, and echo the deep green of yet another Mickey Mouse-shaped shrub, this one with red roses. Perhaps the most telling indicator of this room's theme are the Alice and Cheshire cat figurines sitting on either side of the sink.
A Disney Castle Backyard Playhouse
The backyard of this home is well-suited for children, featuring a jungle-themed playset and plenty of room to run around. A subtle call to the Disney theme is the pink and blue castle playhouse.
The space has an impressively versatile design, featuring a woodchip area where the playset and playhouse reside, a sandbox, and a grass area. There's room to host company, play fetch with the dog, and let the kids run free all at the same time.
The Nightmare Before Christmas Dining Room
Anyone who has been to a Disney park during Halloween season knows that they are transformed with spooky decorations that play on some of their most beloved characters. Likewise, this homeowner transforms her Disney designs for the holidays.
In the dining room, Jack Skellington and his ghost dog Zero become the room's focal point. Pumpkinhead Minnie and Mickey replace the former shrubs, and painted pumpkins fill the table. To top it off, fake spiders, skulls, and other spooky decorations hang from the chandelier.
Coco Living Room
Though it would be easy to make everything The Nightmare Before Christmas during Halloween, this savvy Disney designer mixed it up by incorporating the film Coco. The living room gets a vibrant makeover with Dia de Los Muertos decorations.
The protagonist, Miguel, is featured next to the television in face paint and holding his guitar. Painted skulls adorn the fireplace mantel along with colorful candle holders that match the banners overhead. It's a perfect way to incorporate the bright colors of the living room while sticking to the holiday theme.
Rapunzel With A Halloween Twist
Since purple is one of the few colors that fits the Halloween theme, the Rapunzel seating area needs just a bit of tweaking when autumn rolls around. A more varied banner replaces the previous gold and purple one to incorporate more Dia de Los Muertos colors.
A pirate Mickey and Minnie mouse sit on the floating shelf along with a jack-o-lantern to elude to wearing costumes. To the right, a stack of more jack-o-lanterns and a carved pumpkin drive the theme home.
Welcomed By Jack And Oogie Boogie
One of the most important places to decorate during Halloween is the front porch since this is what trick or treaters will see. In keeping with the Disney theme, this homeowner got a blow-up Jack Skellington and Oogie Boogie to greet guests at the door.
Mickey and Minnie ghosts hang overhead and strands of orange lights wrap around the pillars. A fake spiderweb covers the porch window, through which you can see more jack-o-lanterns that are perched on the indoor windowsill.
A Mickey Mouse Christmas
As with Halloween, Christmas for many is the best time of year to visit a Disney park because of the holiday-inspired decorations. This Disney decorator did a similar transformation to her home, which features Mickey Mouse wreaths, signs, and figurines throughout.
A "snow-covered" Christmas tree rests in front of the Rapunzel room window and is encircled by a classic train toy. Behind that is a dresser where Minnie and Mickey stockings hang beneath a Pinocchio figurine.
Christmas "Under The Sea"
For some, there are only two ways to decorate for Christmas: with tradition red and green colors, or with vibrant colors like pink and baby blue. Since this mom has a Little Mermaid living room, the choice was obvious for that particular space.
She opted for a small, pink Christmas tree with light blue ornaments and a matching pink star. Ariel and Nemo stalkings line the fireplace mantel along with soft-colored decorations, such as the baby blue "joy" sign.
A Frozen Grand Entrance
Though many of us don't get to experience a white Christmas, nothing screams holiday season like the wintery film Frozen. Of course, this Disney decorator had to include the character Olaf in her winter wonderland porch design.
Snowflakes hang from the awning and are attacked to the exterior walls to match the ornaments and tree-topper of the outdoor Christmas tree sitting before the window. Tree-like decorations feature dazzling white lights to give the illusion of being in a snowy forest.
Mickey Mouse Holiday Light Features
Neighbors can't miss this home during the holidays with these light features moving around on the garage doors. The smaller door features Mickey Mouse in a Santa hat, while the double garage door reads "'Tis The Season For Holiday Cheer."
Light-wrapped garland lines the top of both garages, and up above is a glowing wreath in the shape of Mickey Mouse's head. White and blue lights line the building to top off the Disney Christmas home.
