Queen of Katwe
Lupita Nyong’o stole our hearts in 12 Years a Slave. You can also catch the amazing actress in the Disney flick Queen of Katwe. Based on the true story of a Ugandan girl living in a slum in Katwe, she learns to play chess and becomes a Woman Candidate Master after experiencing numerous victories.
Just read this New York Times review of the film: “Irresistible is one of those adjectives that critics should handle with utmost care,” wrote A. O. Scott. “No matter how universally charming or winning a movie or performance might seem to be, there is always a chance that somebody, somewhere, will be able to resist it. For all I know that may be the case with Queen of Katwe, but if there is anyone out there capable of remaining unmoved by this, I don’t think I want to meet them.”
