There are a lot of speciality beds that bring smiles to children’s faces. There are bunk beds that look like castles and there are twin beds that look like sports cars. Anyone can go to a store or shop online for those beds. However, one dad used spare car parts and his artistic abilities to create something different — a VW Bus bed. His daughter was about to turn three years old so this dad used bumpers, hubcaps and headlights to build a transitional bed that he knew his daughter would fall in love with.
The project started with some spare VW Bus parts.
A simple metal framed bunk bed was used.
The bus was formed using standard wood.
The wood was built out to form the body of the VW Bus.
A real bumper was placed around the bunk beds frame.
Working doors were added to the bed.
This awesome dad then added the start of a paint job.
He even added wheels with real VW Bus hubcaps.
A traditional VW Bus paint job.
Working headlights were added for a cool effect.
Then a dash was added with a real steering wheel and instruments.
Check out the attention to detail.
The inside was painted with a really groovy design.
Here’s the final product inside the bedroom.
The VW Bunk Bed Bus was even parked in the driveway to show off its full effect.
