Separations can be very hard on families. With divorce and separations steadily on the rise, couples are able to use their children as leverage as they work out their terms of separation.
While that leverage can often end in some very sad circumstances, one father recently received his very happy ending.
Bryan Thouvenel, 41, is a father of three. When his most recent relationship had soured, his two year-old daughter, Harmony Rain, was taken away by her mother.
Thouvenel was devastated when mom and daughter disappeared and he spent two-years looking for his little girl and even made strides for custody.
After searching for over two years, Thouvenel received a call from one of his friends saying he believed he had seen the young girl at a homeless shelter in Washington state.
Accompanied by his own mother, this heart-broken father immediately got in his car in Myrtle Creek, Oregon and drove to Washington state to find his little girl.
Because he had already notified the courts, Thouvenel would soon be granted full custody of little Harmony Rain.
It took some work but eventually Thouvenel found his daughter at a Salvation Army in Spokane, Washington.
At 4 years old, she was overjoyed at seeing her dad after so much time had passed.
The happy father remembers staring up at the sky and singing “Twinkle, twinkle” during the years they were separated, dreaming that perhaps Harmony was looking up at the same beautiful.
Now this happy father and daughter will have many years to spend together in a loving home.
