They say it's a dog eat dog world out there and that you want to be the top dog, but what people don't realize is that it's really the cats who are in charge.
Cats have a way of getting what they want no matter the situation. It doesn't matter if they're smaller than the dog who lives in their house with them, or if they don't have a powerful bark. They're still going to do what they can to occupy a position of authority.
Keep reading to see some cats who have risen to the coveted spot of pack leader.
A Comfy Bed
This cat doesn't care that he's occupying an entire dog bed even though he has a bed his own size in the other room. This dog is pretty upset about it.
Scaredy Pup
This must be a pretty scary cat judging by the way this dog is cowering in fear. What did this cat do to make this big, bad golden retriever so scared of him?
Not His Crate
This cat has decided to claim this German shepherd's crate as his own. The dog didn't sign off on this move at all. She would really like her crate back.

This cat has no use for that bone. She doesn't want to chew it or lick it or anything. She might want to use it as a headrest, but that's about all.
Feed Me First
This cat has plopped himself down on the dog's food container so that his owner has to feed him first before she feeds the dog. Who knew cats were so clever?

Swapping Beds
There's something wrong with this picture. There's a rather big dog in a rather small bed and a rather tiny kitten in a bed fit for a king. The dog looks pretty defeated.
The Wrestling Champion
This cat is clearly the wrestling champion in this household. The little dachshund underneath him didn't stand a chance. He doesn't even look that mad about it. He almost looks like he's smiling.
Ready To Pounce
This little kitten isn't even a year old yet, and he's already testing the boundaries of his relationship with this older dog. Who do you think is going to win this fight?
An Older Pup And An Annoying Cat
This senior dog looks like he's about ready to take a long nap in the sun. Is the cat behind him going to let that happen? Probably not. Cats are annoying.
The Cat Is Clearly Winning
This puppy doesn't know it yet, but he's actually much stronger than the cat who is sitting on top of him. Maybe one day, when this puppy grows up, he'll actually win a wrestling match.
Let Sleeping Dogs Lie
This dog just wants to be able to sleep without interference from a striped cat paw. This cat can't keep his paws to himself. He can't let sleeping dogs lie.
Down The Stairs

A Smooth Criminal
This stealthy cat just slid into the frame, grabbed this dog's bone, and slithered away. What use does a cat have with a dog bone? He just likes making trouble.
Cowering In Fear
This pup is so scared of these four little kittens that he's hiding on a chair that he doesn't really fit on. What could these little kittens possibly do to this big dog?

Around The Corner
This cat is just waiting for this German shepherd to make a wrong move so he can get his claws out and go in for the swat. His face definitely means business.
What's A Dog To Do?
This dog is bigger and stronger than the cat who is currently curled up in his bed. There are several things he could do to reclaim his territory. The cat has won this mental war, though.
You Shall Not Pass

Let Him Drink In Peace
This dog just wants to get a drink of water in peace, but this cat isn't going to let that happen. She's going to guard that water bowl like it's her job.

A Comfy Place To Sit
This cat has decided that the warmest and coziest place to sit in the whole house is right on top of a dog who's trying to sleep. The dog doesn't seem to mind too much.
Merry Christmas To You Too
It's Christmastime in this house, and everybody is stirring. We don't know about a mouse, but this cat is definitely causing some trouble. The dog looks like he's too scared to move.
Blocking The Doorway
This big, bad Bernese mountain dog is too scared to even look at the cat who's blocking his path. If he can't look his enemy in the eyes, how does he expect to win?
