With the help of a weight-loss management program from a local medical school, The Sheltons learned what they should and shouldn’t be eating, as well as how active they needed to be to lose the pounds. Now, they only go out on special occasions and prepare all their meals at home, where they make healthier versions of the food they love. In addition to tracking their calories with smartphone apps, Lauren tells CNN, “We go to the gym five to six days a week and take one day off and try to do something fun and active like hiking or swimming.”
