Scottish beer company Brewdog is offering a unique vacation policy to all of it’s employees — “Puppy Parental Leave.”
The company already has a policy that allows employees to bring their dogs to work every day, and it recently added the new paternity rule.
On February 20, the craft beer company is opening its first US base in Columbus, Ohio and will offer employees in the US the same perks.
The company currently has 50 office dogs it considers part of the staff and they are treated like absolute royalty.
Founders James Watt and Martin Dickie, who started the company with their dog Bracken in 2007, wanted to make sure their employees’ dogs were treated like a part of their extended family.
“Yes, having dogs in our offices makes everyone else more chilled and relaxed – but we know only too well that having a new arrival – whether a mewling pup or unsettled rescue dog – can be stressful for human and hound both.
“So we are becoming the first in our industry to give our staff to help settle a new furry family member into their home,” the pair said in a company announcement.
“We’re not aware of any other American company giving a week’s leave to their staff to help build the bond between them and their dog – but then few other companies have four-legged friends at their center as we do,” the CEOs added.
