In the 1980s and 90s, we didn’t have an Apple iPad or a Samsung Galaxy S. Instead, we spent our time using the “first tablet,” AKA the Etch A Sketch. If you were like me, your drawing skills on the tablet left something to be desired. However, despite its hard to navigate two wheel drawing system, many children and some adults spent hours drawing on the device, only to remove photos with a few shakes of the toy.
Artist Alli Katz not only still uses an Etch-A-Sketch, but she draws images that are better than I can draw with a pencil and a piece of paper. In her most recent series, Alli recreates famous album covers using nothing but the classic toy. Better yet, she creates the Etch A Sketch drawn albums in just 45 minutes each.
