Jason Galvin and several of his neighbors recently spotted an eagle stuck in a tree in their Minnesota town. At first, Jason believed the bird was dead. After pulling out his binoculars and zooming in on the bird — which was located about 70 feet in the air — he realized it was still breathing but stuck.
Neighbors tried getting help from the police, fire department, and even the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Unfortunately, none of those agencies would send out any workers.
Realizing the bird would die if not rescued, Jason’s wife asked him to use his sharp-shooting skills from the US Army to shoot away a rope that had become wrapped around the bird’s leg.
Jason is an army veteran who served two tours in Afghanistan. He thought with his skills should at least give it a try.
First, he received permission from the DNR to attempt a rescue, then he took out his .22 long rifle and got to work.
Jason spent two hours and 150 shots attempting what appears like a nearly impossible rescue.
After many attempts the unthinkable happened.
