Jim Abbott was a professional MLB player that was born without a right hand. With left-handed pictures already being unusual in the MLB, Abbott’s situation made him genuinely different. Throughout his career, he played for the Anaheim Angels, Chicago White Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, and the New York Yankees.
His professional career spanned over a decade and resulted in him winning numerous honors and awards including an Olympic Gold Medal in 1988. He has been considered as one of the best left-handed pictures of all time and became a motivational speaker after retiring from baseball. Since retiring, he was inducted into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame and the College Baseball Hall of Fame for his skill and overcoming his odds.
