At the young age of five, Bonnie St. John had her right leg amputated due to a pre-femoral focal disorder. However, that didn’t stop her from becoming the first African-American to win medals at the Winter Paralympics as a ski racer.
As if that wasn’t enough, she also worked in the White House during the Clinton administration as a Director of the Economic Council and is now the CEO of Courageous Spirit Inc. She is also an author, having published seven books about her experiences, life-lessons and as a way to inspire others through her story. She has become a celebrity figure over the years making appearances on the Today Show, Good Morning America, CNN, and more.
