Jim Byrnes Got His Real Career Started After His Accident

Jim Byrnes is an American musician, actor, and guitarist. On February 26, 1972, he was trying to move a stalled truck onto the side of a highway when he was hit by a car and had to have both of his legs amputated. Although he continued playing music, it wasn’t until 15 years later that he started to take up acting. He started on the show Wiseguy as a lifeguard and then starred in the fantasy show Highlander: The Series.
He reprised the role in numerous films based off of the show and continued his career in show business. His music career was also very successful winning the Juno Award for Blues Album of the Year three times as well as other accolades.
Max Cleland has lived a beyond successful life with only one arm.
