Alex Zanardi Still Has The Need For Speed

Alex Zanardi is a Formula One racecar driver who won the CART championship in 1997 and 1998 in North America. In 2001, Zanardi was involved in a horrific crash resulting in the amputation of both of his legs.

He returned to the track after just two years and competed in the FIA World Touring Car Championship with a slightly modified car that allowed him to drive. He then switched sports and became involved in handcycling and represented Italy in the 2012 Summer Paralympics where he won two golds and silver. He also won a gold and silver in the 2016 Paralympics.
