Rick Allen Is Still Drumming Away

Rick Allen is the drummer for the rock and roll group Def Leppard. He has been playing with the group since 1978. His future as a dominant rock drummer seemed bright until he had to have his right arm amputated in 1985. Allen was in a car accident where he was thrown from the car and severed his arm.
Although doctors reattached it, because of infection they were forced to amputate it. However, he continued to adapt and learned how to play the drums with one hand. The ironic thing is that the band’s most successful period of making music was after Allen had lost his arm.
