Amy Purdy is an actress, snowboarder, clothing designer, author, and motivational speaker. At the age of 19, she contracted Neisseria meningitis. The disease led to complications of her circulatory system and eventually septic shock. She then had to have both of her legs amputated, lost her kidneys, and had her spleen removed.
She had a 2% chance of surviving but still managed to pull through after a kidney transplant from her father. After her recovery, she had a new lust for life and got busy. She began modeling, co-founded the non-profit organization Adaptive Action Sports, and even competed in the series Dancing With The Stars. She’s also been featured in numerous TV shows, some films, and is a winning Paralympics athlete.
