Penguin swims 2,000 miles every year to visit man who saved his life

Penguin swims thousands of miles to visit man who rescued him

71-year-old retired bricklayer and part time fisherman Joao Pereira de Souza saved the live of a penguin years ago. The poor little guy was covered in oil and in desperate need of help.

The penguin, after making a full recovery, leaves to the ocean months at a time, but refuses to forget about his hero, even if he ends up 2,000 miles from home.

“I love the penguin like it’s my own child and I believe the penguin loves me,” Joao told Globo TV.

“No one else is allowed to touch him. He pecks them if they do. He lays on my lap, lets me give him showers, allows me to feed him sardines and to pick him up.”

Here’s the amazing story of this very thankful penguin.
