Every year thousands of people around the world are severely injured and even killed when they attempt to jaywalk in heavy traffic. Impatient pedestrians for whatever reason, believe that playing a game of Frogger with their own lives would be a good idea.

The team at Smart wanted to figure out how to stop that type of dangerous activity, so they created The Dancing Traffic Light.

The concept is simple, pedestrians step into a large Red Light box and dance. As they move the red person that typically appears on pedestrian signs mimics their moves. Anyone about to cross the street can see those dance moves and even dance along.

Smart started The Dancing Traffic Light in Lisbon, Portugal and random pedestrians immediately fell in love with the concept.

Could The Dancing Traffic Light really help save lives? The group found that 81% more people stopped and waited for red lights to turn green.
