Carrie Fisher Dead at 60

We have some sad news to report for Star Wars fans, actress Carrie Fisher has passed away, she was 60-years-old. Fisher died on December 27, just four days after suffering a heart attack.

Fisher inspired millions of women around the world after taking a strong female lead in the original Star Wars trilogy. Last year she re-appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” family spokesman Simon Halls said in a statement to Us Weekly.

“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

Fisher was traveling on a flight from London to LAX on Friday, December 23, when she suffered a heart attack. After an emergency landing she was rushed to the hospital. An EMT on the flight administered CPR until the flight landed.

Fisher had been in London on a book tour for her new memoir The Princess Diarist.

After her role in Star Wars she appeared in The Blues Brothers, The Man With One Red Shoe and Woody Allen’s Hannah and Her Sisters. She also took a starring role in When Harry Met Sally and alongside Tom Hanks in The ‘Burbs.

Along with her movie roles she was a best-selling author and the star of a one-woman show about her life.

This is a sad day for Star Wars fans and the millions of people that have admired the actresses work over the last four decades.
